Pulling up a chair
Why I'm starting, and what this place is for.
There’s an old poker saying: all you need is a chip and a chair. As long as you’re still at the table, you’re still in the game.
I learned it during my university years, a while ago now, playing online poker on too many nights and breaks. Years later, it still sticks with me, just with a small change: today, it’s a laptop and a chair.
I’m John, and I’ve been a developer for 15 years. My motto has always been that we can build anything. As an ordinary developer, I believed it. Now, with AI speeding everything up, we’re entering a building era where builders like us will shine. I can’t tell, and won’t pretend to know, where AI will take us. But I know that right now, it’s an accelerator for our skills and our vision.
I’ve always loved building. No big plan, just the fun of taking an idea and seeing if I can make it real. With AI, that gets so much faster. An idea can turn into something I can click on in a weekend, so I get to try way more things, mess around and see what happens. Some will work, some won’t. Either way, I’m learning and having a blast.
So I’m starting this website and building any idea that comes to mind.
What you’ll see here
- Whatever I’m building: apps, tools, games, anything
- How each one got made, what worked and what didn’t
- Real numbers when there are any
- Everything I learn along the way
This website is the foundation for what’s to come: a place for you to follow the journey, and a place for me to stay accountable.
If you want to follow along, pull up a chair.
